4/24/14 > LHS Mighty Raider Band Achieves Sweepstakes Band

The LHS Band competed in the Concert and Sight Reading Contest Thursday, April 24 at Nederland High School.  They received all first divisions.  When you add those 1s to the 1s from Marching Contest in the fall, you are named as a Sweepstakes Band!  This is the highest award in the band world! Congratulations to all the band members as well as the band directors. LISD is proud of you!


4/23/14 > Lady Raiders Softball Team Plays for Bi-District Friday

The Lady Raiders Softball team will be playing for Bi-District vs Barbers Hill Friday, April 25 6:30 pm @ Ford Park ("Lamar Univ. Field").

4/21/14 > LHS Choir Students Win Sweepstakes

On Wednesday, April 16, 2014 LHS UIL Concert and Sight-Reading students competed at Region 10 in Baytown at Lee College. The choir students won the following:

Women's choir made a 2 (1-2-2 Excellent) onstage and 1(1-1-1 Superior) in Sight-reading.

Mixed choir made a Sweepstakes-straight 1s.

4/21/14 > LHS and LMS Band Students Compete at Lamar University

Congratulations are in order for our high school and middle school percussion students.  They competed in the Lamar University Day of Percussion contest held Saturday at Lamar.  They represented our school very well.

The middle school percussion ensemble placed second in their competition.

The high school percussion ensemble placed first in their competition.  In addition, Trey Gibson placed first in the marimba competition and Matthew Streety placed first in the snare competition. 

Many thanks to the students and Keith Zuech for all their work in preparing for the contest.  Way to go!

4/14/14 > Credit By Exam Information

Lumberton ISD will administer the Texas Tech Credit by Examination tests at Lumberton High School on June 18, 19, and 20, for students in grades 1 to 12 who desire grade acceleration and or course credit.  Additional testing is scheduled for July 9, 10, and 11. Registration deadline for testing is May 2, 2014.  Lumberton students must register with their school counselor prior to the deadline.

4/14/14 > Congratulations to LHS Fishing Teams

SETX High School Fishing Tournament

April 13, 2014  

  23 teams from the LHS Fishing Team participated in the fifth tournament of the SETX High Fishing Association.  They were competing against 233 other teams from around SETX.  Several teams had success and won prizes at the event.  The team of Bailey Bridges and Tyler Ford were the big winners and brought the first place trophy back to LHS.

4/06/14 > LHS Lady Raiders Soccer Advances to Regional Semi-Finals

The Lady Raider Soccer team beat Brenham in the Regional Quarter Finals with a score of 3-0 on Tuesday night in Conroe. They now advance to the Regional Semi-Finals where they will meet Friendswood Friday at 6:00PM in Humble at The George Turner Stadium.

4/02/14 > Freshman Lauren Cochran - One Woman Swim Team

Freshman Lauren Cochran made a splash this year as the Raider's one-woman swim team.  Winning district titles in the 100 and 200 yard freestyle events, Lauren set two new district records and was named the 22-4A Female Athlete of the Meet.  At the Region 6 championships, Lauren placed 4th in the 100 free and 5th in the 200 free, earning Lumberton a 12th place team finish with just one swimmer.  For all her hard work, Lauren was named a SE Texas Playmaker by Vype magazine and the woman's 2014 Super Gold Swimming MVP by the Beaumont Enterprise.

4/02/14 > LHS Students Place at YMBL State Fair Art Contest

Congratulations to the "In School" YMBL Rodeo State Fair Art Contest winners. They are: First Place- Sebastian Hutchinson, second place- Olivia Mikulencak, third Place-Zach Blankenship, Fourth Place-Autum Williams. Also, Congratulations to Zack Blankenship for winning Honorable Mention in the overall competition against 30 school districts in the Southeast Texas Area. LISD is very proud of these students. A big thanks to the students who entered their artwork in the "In School" competition. Those students are: Jessica Mitchel, Alondra Machain, Miranda Jackson, Macy Mitchell, & Zach Hickman. If you have a chance to go out to the fair, stop by and see the fantastic artwork in the Exhibit Hall at Ford Arena.

3/31/14 > Congratulations Jordan Welborn ~ Placed 9th at the Texas Relays in Austin

Jordan Welborn competed Friday, March 28th at the 87th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Tx.  She placed 9th out of 40 Girls in the 1600m earning a new personal best time of 5:03.27

Great job Jordan on all of your hard work to earning a new personal best time!

3/26/14 > LHS Raider Varisty Soccer Team Advances to Area Playoffs!

Congratulations Raider Soccer players on advancing to the Area Round of the 2014 UIL State Soccer Playoffs . The Raiders will play Tomball for the Area Championship this Friday, March 28th, Galena Park Stadium at 6: 3 0pm.

 So come out and support our boys in the playoffs.

3/24/14 > Congratulations LHS Academic Team

Congratulations to our very own LHS Academic Team! Last Friday and Saturday, the UIL Academic Team competed in the District level of competition. Many individuals and teams were recognized for superior performances. Our outstanding math team placed second team in ALL math events including number sense, calculator, and general math. In overall math competition, Cooper Dix place 3rd and Parker Johnston placed 7th. In Number Sense, Parker Ellisor ranked 3rd, Parker Townley-Smith ranked 4th , Josh Bishop ranked 5th and Parker Johnston ranked 8th.  In the calculator event, Cooper Dix placed 3 rd , and Emily Majors and Faith Upton tied for 8 th place. Cheyenne Wilson also competed with the calculator team. Way to go, Math Team!!!

At the same contest, our Current Events and Issue team placed 3rd with Emily Chapman also placing 3rd as an individual. Trevor Guidry and Chase Clubb comprise the rest of this district team.

 

In addition, Noelle Davis placed 2nd in Ready Writing.

 

Carlie Greene advanced to finals in the Prose event and finished with a ranking of 4th overall!

 

At Saturday's events, the LHS Science team swept the contest earning the majority of all rankings in science. They walked away with first place team and the following individuals rankings: 

Cooper Dix - 1st  Josh Bishop - 3rd    Derek Drumm-4th 
Parker Johnston - 5th.

In addition, Cooper Dix ranked 1st in chemistry and 1st in physics, Parker Johnston ranked 2nd in chemistry, and Parker Townley-Smith place 2nd in physics. Way to go, Science Team!!!

Because of their outstanding performances, the following students will be advancing to the Regional level of competition: Cooper Dix, Parker Ellisor, Noelle Davis, Emily Chapman, Josh Bishop, Parker Johnston, and Derek Drumm. Alternates to Regionals are Parker Townley-Smith and Carlie Greene.

3/19/14 > 3-24-14 ~ LHS Boys Varsity Soccer Team ~ Playoff Game ~ Raider Stadium

The HS Boys Varsity Soccer team will have a playoff game at home, Raider Stadium, on Monday, 3/24/14, at 7:00 p.m.  They will play LCM.

3/19/14 > LHS Students Bring Awareness to Tobacco Use

Kick Butts Day, March 19, is a national day of activism that empowers
youth to speak up and take action against tobacco use. Vision 2020
students Kyle Wise, Brittney Jones, Jacob Reed, and Lizbeth Garcia are
members of The Gift of Life Youth Council that promotes Kick Butts Day
in our area. These students attended meetings and planned the events for today at LHS. Their goal was to encourage their peers to reject tobacco and all related products.
