Meet LISD Superintendent
Dr. Gerald Chandler will begin his twenty-fourth year in education and is proud of the many years he has spent with Lumberton ISD. He graduated in 1994 from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture and started his career in the Colmesneil Independent School District as an Agriculture Teacher. He spent eight years with Colmesneil primarily teaching agriculture; however, he also had the privilege of teaching 7th Grade English, 7th Grade Texas History, 8th Grade US History, High School Career Investigations, and High School Communications during his time with CISD.
In 2002, he had an opportunity to fulfill his dream of moving to Lumberton and working to create a newly formed agriculture program. After four years of teaching and completing a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership he was promoted to an Assistant Principal at Lumberton High School. After three years as Assistant Principal, in 2009 Dr. Chandler moved to Lumberton Intermediate School where he received a promotion to Campus Principal. While serving three years as LIS Principal he completed his Superintendent Certification and received a promotion to fulfill the role of Lumberton Independent School District Assistant Superintendent.
In April 2018 Dr. Chandler was named Superintendent of Lumberton ISD. With great pride, he will continue to serve the district and is thankful to the school board for placing their trust in him.
He is married to Gabrielle Chandler who has spent her career as a band director and currently serves the district and students as an At-Risk Coordinator at Lumberton Primary School. She has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Music Education and has earned her Principal certification. They have been married for 15 years and currently reside in Lumberton. They enjoy spending time traveling in the great outdoors.
